AKA Sydney to Melbourne I

Taken on a Sydney to Melbourne Flight, on a Sunday afternoon.

Pretty good considering how scratchy the plane window was.

This photo is just incredible. There is an exquisite phenomenon that sometimes occurs in life, always surprising me, its last occurrence always having been forgotten in the rush of events. There are times I wake up in mid-flight over never before crossed foreign terrain, glimpsed through a parting in the clouds, and the moment seems to be at once a grand invitation extended and a preternatural confirmation that choosing to take this particular trip has been exactly the right choice. There is an immediacy and overwhelming satisfaction in that fleeting yet corporeal moment in life – when you know that you are exactly where you are supposed to be, doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing. I think such moments wash over us in retrospect like celestial mile posts met on the still uncharted road map of life’s journey forward. This photo is an amazing representation of that feeling and that moment. Just beautiful.

Very impressive, indeed. I'm quite astonished that you managed to get a full-width shot like this from the confines of an airplane window. That's rather amazing. You did a good job shopping out the scratches and sunspots; there's very little evidence of them. There's significant room for improvement, of course, but this photo is excellent.

Although I realize you have very little control over the composition in this kind of situation, it would have been better if you had been a little more conscious of it. I think adjusting the angle of the camera would have made a world of difference in both composition and exposure. Was your main focus the clouds below or the sky above? Even though you're high in the air, there is still a clearly-defined horizon, and it's a little too close to the dead center for comfort. if your main focus was the sky above, the horizon should have been in the bottom third of the composition. If it was meant to be the clouds below, the horizon should have been higher (in the top third). Also, impurities in the fuselage glass combined with haze and pollutants in the atmosphere have given this a browned-out look. I think this would be much better without that look. You can still fix this - just adjust the color balance a little or adjust the red and green channels and take away some of that brown (it makes your sky look almost green).

Incredibly breathtaking shot.

 This is one hell of a photo. You captured the essence of a vast, unparalleled landscape in a simple yet honorable way.

And the clarity, holy wow! I can see every little bump, light, and wrinkle in the clouds, even as they disappear into the distance. This isn't a lazy camera shot, that's for sure.

Lastly, the way the sun hits the clouds and leaves a heavy drop shadow towards the right makes it almost feel like I could step onto them and run off.

Not much critique for this one here. It's nothing new, but it's well-done. Nice job.
